This annual event is held on the first Saturday in September. This year the race is on Saturday 7th September 2024, starting at 1pm from New Town Park, Claggan, Fort William. Entries limit is 600.
There are NO runners Red cards this year, as you will have a chip on your bib number which should be displayed at all times. You will require your confirmation receipt that you would have received from Si-Entries, either a paper copy or an electronic copy to register on the day.
Registration takes place from 9.00am and you must have your Entry Invitation Receipt, if not you will not be able to register, bring with you to collect your race pack, bib number, etc.
All competitors will receive a t-shirt at registration if they chose to receive one on your entry application.
Can I also take this opportunity to remind you that if you retire at any point during the race, you must inform a marshal as soon as possible AND report to the secretary’s/ time keepers tent.
The race is being electronically timed this year by Protay.co.uk and you will be able to see your results shortly after finishing.
Race numbers: Do not fold, bend, or cover your race number. It should be worn on the front of your body—your stomach is the ideal location (placing it on the side of your shorts is not acceptable). This ensures high-quality reads at the timing points, providing not only accurate times but also enhancing your safety on the hill, and improving sponsor visibility.
Registration is from 9am until 12.30pm
If you have any queries then please contact us at secretary@bennevisrace.co.uk
All runners are required to wear or carry full body cover in addition to your normal running kit you’ll need windproof and/or waterproof “full body cover” (that means a jacket and overtrousers), as well as a hat and gloves.

I also wish to draw your attention to the route as it was changed last year 2023, and the route is the same for this year.
Important notice – Reminder of route change from 2023 Onwards
Due to conservation concerns from the landowners, the Ben Nevis race route was changed in 2023. All runners will now have to stay on the path from Conservation corner (Red burn shortcut) checkpoint one to the Red Burn checkpoint four for ascent and descent. Please see map for more information. There will be checkpoint mats on route that you must run through to ensure this new rule is followed. Failure to obey this rule will result in disqualification from the race and puts the future of the race at risk.
